Balenciaga has premiered a digital short film as part of its Fall ’21 campaign.
Multi-platform video game Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow was released in December 2020 as an immersive adventure in addition to Balenciaga's Fall 2021 collection.
In the new film, we follow our protagonist, one of the main characters, as he walks past a woman in a queue before they can put on their VR glasses. Having put on an AR headset, the reality transforms to brighter and less depressing environments. The man dives into an idyllic virtual reality with references to Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow joining other characters dressed in the Balenciaga fall collection.
The protagonist finds his beloved both glitching through identities, lose and find each other, and finally kiss.
The whole campaign was directed and produced by Quantic Dream, a Paris-based video game company founded in early 1997.
